Safety Issues

With age, the incidence of falling increases. A fall in adulthood, for various reasons, often ends in fractures that require surgery, long rehabilitation and in many cases end in permanent disability. Therefore, it is very important to do everything to prevent a fall.

Falls when you are elderly

Driving can be challenging for seniors: many cars, traffic laws, changing driving routes and unpredictable pedestrians. If you feel stressed while driving, or hear from those around you that your driving is not safe, it is important to be open and consider stopping driving. Independence can be maintained by finding alternative transportation options, such as public transportation, shuttle vehicles, cabs, etc

Safety at home requires adjustments in order to reduce the risk of accidents and falls. One of the ways to improve safety is by installing grab bars and handrails in key places such as in the bathroom and near the stairs. It is important to make sure that the house is well lit, without obstacles. Periodically test electrical and gas appliances. Heat the house using an air conditioner or radiator and not heat spreaders or stoves. Consider wearing an alarm button, allowing you to seek help if needed.

Weight Loss and Pre-diabetes Workshop

Being overweight can negatively impact health, increasing the risk of heart disease, diabetes, stroke, and various types of cancer. Pre-diabetes is a condition where blood sugar levels are elevated, and the body does not use insulin properly. If left untreated, pre-diabetes can develop into diabetes, leading to potential damage to cells, nerves, and organs, as well as heart disease and other complications.

Leumit’s weight loss workshop is designed for customers over the age of 18 with a BMI of 27 or higher or those diagnosed with pre-diabetes. The program includes 10 weekly sessions led by a clinical dietitian, with each session lasting an hour and a half.

Yoga Workshop

This workshop is designed for adults aged 65 and over, and offers knowledge, support, and guidance for maintaining a balanced lifestyle that promotes physical, emotional, and social well-being.

The program includes 10 weekly sessions, each 90 minutes long, led by a multidisciplinary team of a nurse, dietitian, and social worker.
