The Leumit Gold Pregnancy Package is designed to help cover the many medical expenses that arise during pregnancy, childbirth, and the postnatal period — including various tests, treatments, and consultations.

The Pregnancy and Birth Package provides reimbursement for a wide variety of services that were not previously included under Leumit Gold (subject to financial limits per service or device), as well as an additional reimbursement of 75% of the remaining cost for services already covered under Leumit Gold after the standard refund is applied.

Eligibility applies to services, treatments, and tests performed throughout the pregnancy and up to six months after childbirth, except for postpartum recovery, which can be redeemed within two months after birth.
The pregnancy package provides reimbursement of up to ₪9,290 for the entire membership period.

Your pregnancy benefits

During pregnancy, Leumit offers you a comprehensive benefits package that includes a wide range of tests, treatments, and expert consultations, to help protect your health and your baby’s health.

Here are the main services and the details of your eligibility:

• Genetic testing: To be performed before or early in pregnancy. Eligibility includes genetic screening tests.
• NIPT (Non-Invasive Prenatal Testing): Recommended from week 10 of pregnancy. Eligible for reimbursement under the pregnancy package.
• First trimester ultrasound: The first ultrasound examination during pregnancy. Eligible for reimbursement under the pregnancy package.
• Nuchal translucency (NT) test: Performed between weeks 11–13 of pregnancy. Eligible for an additional reimbursement under the pregnancy package.
• Chorionic villus sampling (CVS): Usually performed between weeks 11–13. At non-contracted clinics, you are eligible for an 80% refund up to a set financial limit (up to age 33). Additional reimbursement is available under the pregnancy package.
• Early anatomy scan: Typically performed between weeks 14–15. At contracted clinics, a co-payment applies; at non-contracted clinics, an 80% refund is available up to a set financial limit. Additional reimbursement is provided under the pregnancy package.
• Amniocentesis: Usually performed between weeks 16–19. At contracted clinics, a co-payment applies (up to age 33). At non-contracted clinics, an 80% refund is available up to a set financial limit (up to age 33). Additional reimbursement is available under the pregnancy package, without age limit.
• Genetic microarray (chromosomal microarray / genetic chip): Typically performed between weeks 16–19. Eligible for reimbursement under the pregnancy package.
• Second (late) anatomy scan: Usually performed between weeks 21–24. At contracted clinics, a co-payment applies; at non-contracted clinics, an 80% refund is available up to a set financial limit. Additional reimbursement is available under the pregnancy package.
• Childbirth preparation course: Usually taken from week 28 onward. You are eligible for an 80% refund up to a set financial limit per course, and an additional reimbursement under the pregnancy package.
• Specialist consultation: Up to three consultations per year for a second opinion or expert advice. Eligible for additional reimbursement under the pregnancy package, up to a set limit per consultation.
• Complementary medicine treatments: No limit on the number of treatments. Available at a reduced co-payment.

Your benefits during childbirth

It’s important to know that even during childbirth, you are entitled to benefits under Leumit’s Pregnancy and Birth Package. These services are designed to support you, make the process easier, and help protect your health and your baby’s health during and immediately after delivery.

• Doula support during birth: You are eligible for reimbursement under the pregnancy package for the services of a certified doula or birth companion. (A copy of the doula’s course completion certificate must be submitted. Reimbursement is not provided for medical services such as those performed by a physician, midwife, or nurse midwife.)
• Umbilical cord blood preservation: Eligible for reimbursement under the pregnancy package.

Your benefits after childbirth

Congratulations! Leumit’s Pregnancy and Birth Package continues to support you even after delivery. The package allows you the time and care to rest and recover comfortably, with a range of benefits including maternity recovery services, breastfeeding consultations, infant sleep and nutrition counseling, and more.

Below are the main benefits you are entitled to after childbirth as part of the Leumit Gold Pregnancy and Birth Package:

• Breastfeeding consultation: 80% refund up to a set financial limit. Eligibility includes up to two consultations during your supplementary insurance membership period.
• Maternity recovery stay (postpartum hotel): Leumit Gold members are eligible for maternity recovery beginning with their first delivery, and for every birth thereafter.
  • For births 1–4: entitlement includes three recovery days.
  • From the fifth birth onward: the number of days is calculated as the number of the child born minus one.
  • After a cesarean birth: an additional two days are granted.
  • 80% refund up to a set financial limit per day.
  • This entitlement is not included in the pregnancy package (the refund is separate from the pregnancy benefits).
• Additional recovery days for mothers: From the fourth birth onward, you are entitled to up to three additional recovery days, with an 80% refund up to a set financial limit per day under the pregnancy package.
• Complementary medicine treatments: Available with a reduced co-payment and no limit on the number of treatments.
• Infant sleep consultation: Eligible for reimbursement under the pregnancy package, up to a set financial limit per consultation.
• At-home personal consultation for physical activity and/or nutrition: Provided by a certified dietitian. Eligible for reimbursement under the pregnancy package, up to a set financial limit per consultation.
• Private nurse home visit: Eligible for reimbursement under the pregnancy package, up to a set financial limit per visit.

Notes

The binding terms are those stated in the official Leumit Gold (supplementary insurance) agreement.

Additional information about Leumit’s Pregnancy Package

• In the case of a multiple pregnancy (two or more fetuses), the benefit amount for that pregnancy is doubled. This change applies only to the financial limit for that specific pregnancy and does not affect the total cumulative limit for the entire membership period.
• Reimbursement is not provided for tests or services that already include a co-payment under the Government Health Basket or within Leumit Gold coverage.
• Eligibility applies only to the insured woman. The benefits cannot be used for a partner or for the baby.
• Waiting period: 6 months. However, new members who transferred to Leumit from another health fund with supplementary insurance (Shaban) and sufficient seniority are entitled to the Pregnancy Package immediately upon joining.

Eligibility

• Surrogate mothers - According to Ministry of Health guidelines, the medical responsibility for a surrogate lies with the health fund insuring her. If the surrogate is insured under a supplementary plan that provides pregnancy benefits, she will be eligible for the pregnancy package through her own fund. The biological mother is not eligible for Leumit’s pregnancy benefits, except for reimbursement for infant sleep consultation (since other services are not relevant to someone who did not give birth).
• No reimbursement is provided for natural birth rooms in hospitals.
• All financial amounts are linked to the cost-of-living index.

Exclusions

The Pregnancy and Birth Package does not include the following services:

• Non-conventional or alternative medicine treatments.
• Fertility-related treatments.
• Any consultation, test, treatment, service, or device that is not medical, unless explicitly stated as covered.
• Reimbursement for co-payments already paid under Leumit Gold, including for consultations with contracted specialists.
