Specialist Consultation – Leumit Gold

As part of Leumit Silver / Gold, you can consult and receive a second medical opinion from senior specialists, including physicians who do not work for Leumit.

Leumit employs leading physicians across many specialties. Through Leumit Silver / Gold, you may also consult senior specialists who are not Leumit physicians. Via the link, you can view the list of consultants. Next to each physician’s name, you will see whether they are a contracted consultant or a non-contracted consultant who is recognized for reimbursement purposes.

Who can you consult with?

Specialist consultations are available through two tracks:

  1. Consultation with contracted specialist consultants who have an agreement with Leumit.
  2. Consultation with non-contracted specialist consultants (reimbursement track), provided their names appear on the list of consultants recognized for reimbursement on the Leumit website on the date of the consultation.

Please note that the list of physicians may change from time to time. Be sure to check close to the consultation date.

Consultation with contracted specialist consultants

A consultation with a contracted consultant requires a copayment, paid directly to the physician.

In surgical specialties (for example, ENT and ophthalmology), contracted consultants also serve as contracted surgeons with Leumit. If surgery is required, these physicians are authorized to perform surgery under the supplementary insurance.

If a specific surgery is known to be required in advance, it is recommended to check in the system whether the contracted consultant performs the required procedure before scheduling the consultation.

The consultation takes place at the physician’s private clinic.

Consultants within the Jerusalem Private Medical Services (Sharap)

The copayment listed applies only when the consultation is provided within Sharap clinics.

If a contracted consultant within Sharap chooses to provide the consultation privately in their own clinic rather than within Sharap clinics, payment will be made privately by the insured, and no reimbursement will be provided by Leumit.

Consultation with non-contracted specialist consultants (reimbursement track)

You may consult specialist physicians recognized by Leumit whose names appear on the approved list, for consultation purposes only. No reimbursement will be provided for consultations at outpatient clinics in public hospitals. These physicians are not contracted surgeons under Leumit’s supplementary insurance. No reimbursement will be provided for surgery performed by a surgeon who is not under agreement with Leumit.

What is considered a consultation?

A consultation is a visit to a specialist physician to discuss the member’s medical condition.

Please note: the following are not considered consultations:

  • Dental treatments
  • Consultations related to dental medicine
  • Consultations conducted during surgery or any medical treatment
  • Consultations conducted during a medical test that is covered under another chapter of the supplementary insurance

How do you receive the service?

Under Search for Doctors, enter the medical specialty for which consultation is required or the physician’s name. You will receive a list of Leumit physicians and consultant physicians who work with Leumit’s supplementary insurance. Next to each physician’s name, you will see whether they are a contracted consultant or a non-contracted consultant recognized for reimbursement.
